Updates on HR 1022 (aka Assault Weapons Ban)??

Was listening to the radio last evening and the talk show had a segment on HR 1022 (Reintro of AW Ban) and the increasing likely hood that this is going to gain alot of support after the 20th and may in fact be ramrodded through in the next session. All of this with little information being put out by the MSM, go figure.

Anyhow, I got online to do some searching for myself, but could only find links dating back in 2007, no blogs or other insight as to where this atrocity may be headed in the next few weeks.

I am mainly into the hunting scene and personal protection (CCW) aspects of firearms, but am increasingly becoming interested in more firepower. Any of you gun afficianados (sp?) that has any up to date insight of HR 1022 that you could direct me to would be greatly appreciated.

The Messiah clearly said, "lawful gun owners have nothing to worry about!"
How much clearer can you get!

Considering that registrations and NICS are LEGAL instruments and that the only LAWFUL consideration for firearm ownership is the 2nd amendment of the Constitution (AFAIK) then registered guns would LEGALLY be recognized for confiscation. An unregistered firearm is a lawfully owned weapon invisible to the state. IOW, construing his use of the word "LAWFUL" to be presumed non-inclusive of LEGALLY owned firearms makes this seem to be a perfectly true and abidable statement.

It's time to lay low.
Don't draw any attention to your self.
Invest in some PVC tubes and caps for storage.
However, it is time to write/call to your congressional reps.

Never even think about burying you rifles!!!! When the time comes, USE THEM FOR THERE INTENDED PURPOSE, to overthrow an oppressive government. This is the reason for the 2nd amendment.

You don't have to bury your rifles, you don't have to bury your gold! Nobody is coming to take these things from you, get real! It may be harder to get them in the future(or at least guns), but they are not going to be knocking at your door to take them. It's just not going to happen!

I agree with MM that when it comes time to bury them, it is actually time to use them, although caching some for a rainy day is never a bad idea. That "all your eggs in one basket" thing.

Mike C, you are correct in that it is not likely that there will be pro active door to door searches in any event. However, it could be most regrettable if your gear was discovered in some type of unforseeable random event, ie...house fire, loose lips, transporting from A to B and get a speeding ticket........kind of like drugs. Either way, we lose.

What do you have to prove this?

The UN has done door to door gun seizures in the past, but no that wont ever happen to you

Make sure you have a few in different locations so if they catch you without one and confiscate your daily use defense gun you still have a few to hunt them down with. Taking a persons guns/right to defend themselves is nothing short of murdering them and their family. If the police have guns the criminals will have guns too.

I think they'll try to force them from us first with things like excessive registration fees, a slow whittling away of what we can own and what we can transfer ownership of, and ammo restrictions and excessive ammo taxes. Along with this gun owners will be villified much in the way smokers are. Eventually, when enough people can't afford to keep guns and gun owners have been made fair game for the public's ridicule and disgust, the resistance to gun control will have lessened considerably. At that point they might try to take them from us. Other civilized countries have done it. We haven't moved as far along the nanny state spectrum as England, but we're slowly getting there.

Many people who don't own guns and never learned to use them don't even remotely understand how strongly those of us who do own guns feel about the right to own firearms. If they don't recognize that, who knows what they might try to do to outlaw guns, especially once they get the ball rolling.

There is nothing to register if you lost it in an unfortunate boating accident.

It happened here in America in 1775. Kind of set that whole "American Revolution" thing in motion.

Just one example of many such incidents throughout history.

Remember, according to a recent president, the Constitution is just a "G-damn piece of paper."
